Jarabacoa, also known as the "city of eternal spring", is also the head of ecotourism in Dominican Republic. It is located in the Central Mountain Range of El Cibao. Due to its unsurpassed natural beauty and climate, it is a great place for mountain biking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, paragliding, hiking, outdoor dining and flower shopping. Its stunning valleys house the most fertile ground for growing strawberries. It has a tropical rainforest climate due to its tropical location and high altitude (about 525m above sea level), which has warm days and cool nights during most of the year.
Temperatures can drop to 45 F (7 C) in winter but usually range between 60-75 F (16-22 C) so it's an incredibly nice place for walks from morning till evening, picnics, swimming in rivers and pools and all kinds of outdoor activities. Jarabacoa is the main access to Duarte Peak, the highest point in the Caribbean, which stands at 3,098 meters above sea level and the Ebano Verde Scientific Reserve. Jarabacoa has three major rivers; Baiguate, Jimenoa and the Yaque del Norte, the last two are joined at La Confluencia, continuing as the Yaque del Norte, the country's second largest river.
Just 4 km from AKASHA SPA you can enjoy the beautiful Salto Jimenoa, an impressive waterfall with swimming and picnic areas managed by the community.
Only 10 Km from AKASHA SPA is the beautiful and fully functional downtown Jarabacoa where you have access to banks, ATMs, supermarkets, pharmacies, health services, restaurants, nightclubs and many other attractions.
